Sebastian's 1st Birthday

How cute is my Mom!

Happy 1st  Birthday to our Little Prince Sebastian!! <3 xo

Sebastian the Sneak! What could he by spying? What could I be hiding?

Oh, maybe he knew that big box was  from Pet Smart, and his birthday presents came in and I was checking the order...? Or maybe Sebastian just wanted to be where I was. It's very rare that I restrict his access to me. After all a little boy needs his Mommy, & mine loves following me around like a puppy dog - well until his Daddy comes home.

Our 1st Anniversary

Luke and I celebrated our first Wedding Anniversary yesterday! As much as I love surprises, I prefer to be the one to make the plans. We compromised. Luke was to plan dinner and I already had dessert planned - since last year. ha! It was important to me to keep with tradition and have the top of our (red velvet) wedding cake as dessert.

I also set aside one of the SKY lanterns we had as a seaside surprise for the guest. I loved having the guest send their Wedding Wishes for the new Mr. & Mrs. up in to the sky with the SKY lanterns.  I had only seen these in the Disney movie Tangled and loved them. I was curious if they existed in real life and where and how to get them; thanks to a google search, and www.Skylanterns.com we were able to bring them and their magic to our oceanfront celebration.

I had hoped that my guy Sky and I could walk down to "our" beach,  and send our last SKY lantern up to the heavens with the wishes we hold for the years to come. The rain washed that hope away, there is always next week. Maybe it was Mother Nature's way of giving us the opportunity to celebrate the anniversary of our oceanfront celebration too...

While we were on our honeymoon cruise, we booked a cruise to Greece to celebrate our our first anniversary.  In January of this year I was named Mrs. Suffolk County NY America 2012-13! It is an incredible honor and I am both humbled and elated to represent the married women of Suffolk County in the prestigious Mrs. New York America Pageant. This meant that Luke and I would have to make a choice since our cruise and the pageant were the same time. We made the choice to sacrifice our trip to Greece, for now. I am so grateful that Luke encouraged me to achieve a life long goal of competing in a pageant of this caliber,  and how he generously insisted that we cancel the cruise and go to Rochester.

Our anniversary fell on Tumble Weed Tuesday much to my disappointment some of our favorite restaurants were already ... <gasp> closed.  Some have already adjusted to their fall hours, where they are only open on weekends, and others already closed up shop for the season.  Knowing this,  overhearing Luke talk with friends about Cavo (a Greek Restaurant), in Astoria and Luke asking that I be home, and ready to go at 2pm / 2:30 the absolute latest, I thought for sure we were heading in to the city for dinner.

Much to my surprise and delight we spent the afternoon, at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton. Our 1st Wedding Anniversary, was their last day at the Jobs Lane location in Southampton Village.   Over the next few months they will relocate to the brand new location in Water Mill.  It was sad to see the blue sign that read "Last Day"on the door when we arrived.

We were two of four guest that were able to appreciate the Parrish during it's last hours at this location. The other couple were  there on their 50th Wedding Anniversary (there celebration is Saturday).  How randomly sweet.  While the Mrs. shared additional details of the Landmarks of New York, the Mr. sat and read. She was very warm and helpful, she shared  many tales, of her experiences at these legendary New York Landmarks. I'm so grateful that these love birds choose to celebrate their 50th Anniversary the same way we decided to celebrate our first, our experience at the last day of the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton Village; wouldn't have been the same.

Our Everyday Fairytale Hamptons Wedding(s) ;-)

Mr. & Mrs. Luke Herger
Our Happily Ever After began, a week earlier than everyone expected. Much to my Surprise everyone involved including my Mom was able to keep this BIG secret.  Our friend who is authorized to perform marriage ceremonies in the Town of Southampton, performed ours  with my parents, Luke's Parent's and my Brother as the only guest in attendance.  We decided that our ceremony was something we wanted to keep simple & only share with our immediate families.
We exchanged our matching Tiffany & Co.  Wedding Bands in an intimate ceremony with our parents and my Brother as the only guest.  Not one person noticed that we were already wearing wedding bands, at the pre -wedding festivities the day of the Oceanfront Celebration.
...about to share our first kiss as Husband & Wife at our Simple Ceremony on September 4, 2011.

These Girls, & Emma Love absolutely were the most adorable Flower Girls! I simply adore the halos of Pink Sweetheart Roses in their hair!! <3 xo
Since we were legally married a week earlier, at our intimate ceremony at out home, our seaside ceremony was performed by my aunt and uncle Bobby & Annmarie Burden. It was a special touch, I am very grateful we were able to have.

We are SO lucky that this beautiful beach was the setting for the seaside ceremony and reception of Our Everyday Fairytale Hamptons Wedding.

Our LDW Tradition

The Shinnicock Nation's Pow-Wow has been a Labor Day Weekend Tradition, this year is the 66th Annual Pow-Wow! Luke and I have attended the Pow-Wow with friends for the last few years. It has become a tradition for us, to say good-bye to another fabulous summer season in the Hamptons, by attending the Shinnicock Nation's Annual Pow-Wow.
Luke & I at the 2012 Pow- Wow. We stand in front of a man-man teepee This structure took members of the tribe two weeks to construct. It is absolutely incredible! Even though we have attended the Pow-Wow for years, this was the first opportunity I had to explore the inside of this structure, and it is absolutely incredible!
Here I am pictured with  friends Stacey, Lacey and  Native Boy David dressed in a Traditional Outfit.  This picture was taken just before the Grand Entrance and the Dance Competition.

I love that a promise that was made sitting around this bon-fire, to say good-bye to each  summer season, by attending the Shinnicock Nation's Annual Pow-Wow, has been kept.
